44 Willys MB Maltournee: Swealing noise in clutch group is caused by throwout bearing. As suggested by Bazza, I applied two or three drops of oil to the throwout bearing, letting it seep into the bearing. Squealing noise is gone for now... to be discussed: g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=225881

    This video contradicts your other video. In this video at 00:20 it shows you oil slinger coming off (convex side towards bearing) and in you mainshaft video it shows your oil slinger the other way.

      @@Valfourable Yes. I replaced the clutch with a JMP one and the problem was solved.

    it's only taken 8 years but .... the tin Springs should be between the sticks not on the outside, Ears facing outwards ... And this job is a Barstool when the tub is in the chassis.

      @@morganmend you will need to undo the six bolts holding the the gearbox cross member to chassis ( also remove skid plate ) use a large trolly Jack to support the Gearbox and drop it a couple of inches / 50mm this will allow you to remove the pivot pin and then you can remove the gear sticks and springs and refit ..this is best done by two people but can be done alone but its a jiggle and many a bad will will be uttered as gravity takes over .. OR ... OR ...Drill a 1' or 25mm hole in the gearbox tunnel hump ( inside the jeep ) that corresponds with the pivot pin and this will make the removal of the pin easier. hope this helps.

      My1956mga I very much appreciate your reply my friend. I tried all day yesterday to drop the tranny only to realize that the 2wd/4wd lever was bound against the floor pan. I tried driving the pin out but it was no use as I couldn’t really get a good angle on it. I then contemplated cutting the floor pan but didn’t want to do that haha. I wound up getting the transmission out but had to cut that selector lever below the pan, Then the transmission pulled right out. I’m replacing the transmission, so I didn’t mind cutting that lever. However, when I reinstall the new one, I already know I have to remove the selector levers as that’s the only way I can mount the transmission. After I have the transmission into position, I will reinstall the levers per your instructions. Thank you very much for your help, it is greatly appreciated!

      It is a digital travel indicator but a dial travel indicator, what many people just refer to it as a dial indicator will work just as well. If you are not using it everyday a cheap one will do just fine.

    Is the piolt bearing constantly engaged or only when in gear? My truck makes a whirling bearing noise when accelerating in gear and gets louder with higher rpms. The noise goes away when pushing in the clutch or cruising in neutral. Can hear it in all gears except 4th for some odd reason.

      I have a similar issue. Only when I press my clutch pedal to change gear at speed. Never stationary or in neutral!
